Help Neighbors in Crisis. Fast, Local, Transparent.
The Red Bird Foundation is a community driven nonprofit serving neighbors in crisis across Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties. Through this website, people can request help with essentials like food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and basic bills, while local “Angels” sign up to respond directly. Every request is handled with care, privacy, and transparency so that donors, volunteers, and families in need can see exactly how help is being given and hope is being restored.
How It Works
Choose a Neighbor to Help
Browse our open requests by county, city, zip code, or type of need. Click a request to read the story and decide how you want to support that individual or family.
Tell Us How You Will Help
Choose to make a monetary donation toward a specific item, pledge a gently used item, or purchase items for pickup by one of our Angels. Please note that funds never go directly to requesters – all support is provided as goods or services.
We Coordinate Pickup and Delivery
Our Angels handle the logistics. We receive or pick up your donation, and deliver it directly to the person in need. You can also subscribe to a request and get an update when the request has been fulfilled!

Download & Print Our Flyer!
We have both a color and grayscale flyers for you to post on community boards, on the windows of your business, and other indoor and outdoor locations to reach those in need and those who want to help.

Sponsor A Neighbor
Sponsor A Neighbor is an ongoing way to step into someone’s story, make an immediate difference, and stay by their side through the challenges they face in creating a brighter and more stable future for themselves.

Provide Safe Parking!
Safe Parking is designed to reduce risk and instability by providing a calm, designated place to rest without being told to move along, cited, or towed.
